Assessment and rehabilitation of neck problems

Guy Vanderstraeten, MD, PhD, FRCP, Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine,  University Hospital, De Pintelaan 185, 9000 Gent, Belgium

Professor Vanderstraeten is the head of the Department of physical and rehabilitation medicine at University Hospital, Gent, Belgium and also head of the Rehabilitation center for locomotor and neurological disorders. He has recently been appointed as dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University Gent Belgium.

He has been chairman of several European organizations in rehabilitation as the European Board of physical and rehabilitation medicine .He is president of the European Academy of rehabilitation medicine. He has since 2001 been member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine.

His research has mainly focused on locomotor disorders, as low back pain, with emphasize on diagnostics and evaluation of the effects of specific exercises and on evidence-based medicine of physical and rehabilitation treatments in musculoskeletal disorders.
