Lay Abstract

Collecting data about existing rehabilitation service and the need for rehabilitation in the country is pre-requisite to develop rehabilitation services. To facilitate implementation projects, a situation analysis checklist was developed to collect relevant information, including six health system constituents of World Health Organization (WHO): health service delivery; health workforce; health information systems; essential medicines; financing; leadership and governance. The checklist called Rehabilitation Situation Assessment Tool (RSAT). It consists of information about country profile; disability and rehabilitation; national policies, laws, and responsibilities; and relevant non-governmental stakeholders.  The RSAT was used in different implementation projects in different countries. It was feasible and useful.
